The Lead Mechanic is responsible for ensuring that company fleet and equipment are maintained and repaired efficiently and effectively. Prioritizes the daily demands of vehicle and equipment repairs and provides direction to other technicians to ensure repairs are done properly, correctly and timely.
Ensure all commercial vehicles comply with DOT regulations.
Develop a maintenance schedule for the entire company fleet and ensure all maintenance is performed on schedule.
Track and record the vehicle maintenance throughout the life of the vehicle.
Update, maintain and keep organized equipment service records.
Perform necessary repairs and unexpected maintenance in a time sensitive manner.
Manage the parts inventory and shop supplies to minimize equipment downtime.
Establishes and communicates priorities and workflows to the shop staff.
Create and post work orders to prioritize work in the shop and in the field.
Handle emergencies repairs that may arise expediently.
Communicate and develop relationships with vendors, managers, and other employees.
Coach and develop other shop team members.
Perform maintenance on shop building as needed and directed.
Manage housekeeping of shop and yard.
Provides oversight and be responsible for organization of the yard and shop facilities.
Hands on experience and mechanical knowledge with the ability to effectively diagnose equipment and vehicle problems.
Experience with diesel and gas engines
Mechanical and Technical Know-How.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws that apply to commercial vehicles.
FEDERAL DOT INSPECTION experience.
Proactive attitude and ability to stay motivated and prioritize with little direction or supervision.
Valid driver’s license.
Relevant experience includes construction equipment mechanic, crane mechanic, diesel technician, hydraulic technician.
Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
Required to stand for long periods, bend, and stoop
Attention to detail, using hands for grasping and gripping
Must be able to lift or move 75lbs regularly and climb up to 4ft
Specific vision abilities are required (close vision, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus)
Must be willing to work in weather related conditions (extreme heat and cold)
