The individual in this position is responsible for the Quality Control function utilizing the Quality Control Manual in conjunction with the latest edition of the AISC Steel Construction Manual and AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code and the contract requirements.
This position is responsible for nondestructive testing methods and verification of records insuring that the steel is produced in accordance with contract requirements.
This person will be involved in the supervision of third party inspections as required.
This person will have experience required to meet the current ANSI/AISC 360 Specification for Structural Steel Building Section 4.
This position requires a person with the ability to read shop drawings and understand the requirements for supplying the relative materials.
This person must be able to pass an eye examination in accordance with AWS D1.1.
This person must also have an overall view of the company operations as well as cooperation of constituents.
Coordinate all activities with management as required. Follow company policies. Follow safety rules always.
Maintain congenial relationship with all customers, reply to requests.
Assist other departments as necessary and maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and with management. Also request assistance as needed.
Assist all departments in following project requirements.
Continue in working to develop optimal standards in all aspects of individual work. Work with management and the company as a whole to strive for excellence.
Maintain strict confidence of all Cooper Steel business affairs, internally and outside of the company.
Coordinate quality control activities throughout the shop.
Work with shop management, foremen, drafting and purchasing in fulfilling quality control requirements in the best and least costly way.
Oversee the safe operation of the shop.
Detect unfavorable developments and inform those involved and apply necessary corrective action.
Oversee the approved corrective action of non-conforming items.
Arrange for inspection activities for those nondestructive tests, which are beyond the capabilities of personnel at Cooper Steel.
Audit other departments to determine their adherence to the quality control manual.
Conduct random inspections of incoming material as required.
Measure and inspect structural members to ensure that they are in agreement with approved shop drawings.
Inspect structural members for proper surface preparation and coating application.
Inspect blocking, etc. of outgoing loads.
Randomly inspect suppliers and subcontract fabricators as required.
Delegate various inspection responsibilities to shop personnel.
Supervise welding machine set up.
Inspect shop bolts, test as required and keep record of tests, assure compliance with bolting procedures.
