Jul 20, 2015
Gray Architects group comes to Cooper Steel.
Randall Vaughn, AIA, Chairman-President, Gray Architects and Engineers, P.S.C. headed up his group for the drive down from Lexington KY to tour the Cooper Steel Fabrication plant in Shelbyville TN and a trip to Champion Pet foods.
After a great dinner at Legends in Shelbyville and a good nights rest, the group headed to the Shelbyville Office for a meet and greet and a one hour presentation on Cooper Steel presented by Duff Zimmerman, VP & COO and Josh Bobo, AOM/QA Manager. This set the stage for a guided tour of the state of the art fabrication plant where Rodney Harden, Plant Foreman and Clint McCullough, Production Supervisor provided insights as to how Cooper is able to meet the many demands of a robust production schedule in order to meet and exceed our customer expectations.
The tour included demonstrations on just about every facet of the fabrication process from start to finish. Demonstrations from the new angle line to the beam line and plate processor. “ The trip was enlightening and very informative for our design team members at Gray “ said Randall Vaughn.
The tour concluded with some parting gifts and lunch hosted by Barry Cooper, CFO Cooper Steel, in Bell Buckle TN. It was then off to the Champion Pet Foods job for the process to come full circle from drawings to steel erection.
We thank all the folks in the shop and office that provided insights and answers to questions from our fine group from Gray and to Randall for coming to Shelbyville. “Anytime we can have a group of folks from one of our best customers come to the plant to see hands on the Cooper way of Building Strong is a win-win for all of us” said Duff Zimmerman.
